The collection week for Samaritan’s Purse Christmas boxes is November 12th through the 19Th. If Franklin could have their boxes ready and at the church on Sunday November the 11th, then we will make sure they get delivered to our drop off points in Salisbury. Don’t forget donations are needed for the $9.00 a box shipment cost. There is a procedure posted in the vestibule and many brochures are available at the church. Hobby Lobby has teamed up with Samaritan’s Purse, so check out what Hobby Lobby has to offer along with helpful suggestions.
Save the date for “Bring a Friend” to church on November 18th followed by home-made soup and crackers, courtesy of John Lowe and Richard Leonard. Please make an effort to ask your neighbor or friend to accompany you on this special Sunday in the life of our church.
What a huge success our church had in the trunk or treat and a special thank you to our cooks and all the decorated cars, vans and trucks. Next year I overheard some additional cars will volunteer to be decorated. What an outreach to the community. Everyone from the church needs to be here with your chair and sit with us and as we meet the community.
The choir is working hard to learn our new beautiful cantata for Christmas, “Forever God is with Us” by Marty Parks. Make sure you save the date and don’t miss this special time of worship. The cantata will be Sunday, the 16th of December at 10:30am.
Several things coming from the mission committee this spring in our efforts to reach out to the community and become the words and hands of Jesus. And remember we just share, The Holy Spirit has the responsibility to convict and change a person’s life. More information is forth coming later.

Helping Others

I knelt to pray when day was done,
And prayed, O Lord, bless everyone;
Lift from each saddened heart the pain,
And let the sick be well again.”

And then I woke another day
And carelessly I went on my way.
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye;

I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on my road;
I did not even go to see
The sick man just next door to me.

Yet once again when day was done
I prayed, “O Lord, bless everyone.”
But as I prayed, into my ear
There came a voice that whispered clear:

“Pause, hypocrite, before you pray;
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God’ sweet blessings always go
By hands that serve Him here below.”

And then I hid my face and cried,
“Forgive me, Lord, for I have lied;
Let me but see another day
And I will live the way I pray.””

Rowan Helping Ministries
Our volunteers from Franklin pick up and deliver food on Tuesdays from Food Lion #1 that they donate to Rowan Helping Ministries to help the less fortunate. We continue to request members bring non-perishable goods to put in the box in the vestibule for Rowan Helping Ministries.
